MSA Events & Activities

1. MSA General Body Meeting
You are all invite to our first General Body Meeting (GBM) of the winter quarter this Friday.  The meeting will be focused on the current situation in Gaza and making a difference.

2. OSU Sisters Circle
Join the Sisters weekly to strengthen you eman, the bonds of sisterhood and dedicate time to Allah in the midst of the craziness that is college life.

• Topic: 6 pillars of Eman
• Description:
  Sr. Rahma Jama starts the halaqa with reading and translating a Surah from the Quran; Tafseer of Ibn Katheer: and we reflect on how it applies to our lives. For this quarter we will be discussing the 6 pillars of eman: (focus on five as of now) Belief in angels of Allah, the Jinns, books, messengers, belief in Qada Wa Qadar-belief in the hereafter-destination.

  ~Each week we will be focusing on a specific pillar and this week we will continue on the topic of the Jin, we hope you can come and share your knowledge and experience or just come and listen!

3. Brothers Sports Night
Every Thursday the brothers will play sports at the ARC (B-Ball, Football, etc).

5. Media Training Workshop
Learn how to effectively communicate with the media to establish the voice of the Muslim Community!

• Description:
  With the current political and social climate Muslims across the United States find themselves in, it has become a duty to speak for and represent Muslims around the world.  Good intentions are necessary, but the skill and tips this session will provide you with will help you represent Muslims to the media, and to family, friends, and acquaintances who are constantly bombarded by a slanted media.  Muslims can balance the media, but only by taking action!

  Guest speakers Dr. Asma Mobin-Uddin and Columbus Dispatch Editor Mark Fisher will join us to discuss Muslim relations with the media.  Dr. Mobin-Uddin’s experience with the media is invaluable, and Mr. Fisher will cover topics such as letters to the editor, accurate reporting, and more.
