MSA EVENTS & ACTIVITIES 

 

1. MSA General Body Meeting Potluck (Friday, March 5) 

You are all invited to our weekly General Body Meeting (GBM) this coming FRI @ 6:00 PM

  

POTLUCK Come join your friends and fellow MSA-ers as we eat food brought from of diverse MSA members! Love to cook? Want to try something new and want feedback? This your chance! prizes will be awarded to Best Main Dish, Most Appealing, Best Dessert, Most creative, and Most authentic!

2. Sisters Circle (Monday)

Join the Sisters weekly to strengthen your eman, the bonds of sisterhood and dedicate time to Allah. We meet every Monday and on alternating weeks, we will have a HALAQA one week and a social event the following week.

3. Brothers’ Night (CANCELLED THIS WEEK)

Converted to Islam? Born into Islam? By birth or by choice, we’re Muslim. Let’s get together. Come to hang out, get to know each other, and for some snacks and games. Classroom 5024 is tucked away in a corner of the fifth floor in Smith Laboratory. Every Wednesday night at 7:30 - c’mon, don’t be shy brotha’!

·         POTLUCK NOTICE Brothers’ Night is cancelled this week but we hope you will join us at this week’s GBM Potluck with a dish and an appetite for great food. P.S. You may win a prize for your creation (and if you don’t, you may still enjoy prize-worthy food that others make). 

 

4. Tutoring Services (Tuesdays & Thursdays)

MSA tutoring services is FREE for registered MSA members. Everybody is welcomed to register with MSA. First session is FREE for everyone.

5. MSA Tajwid Class (CANCELLED THIS WEEK) 

Tajwīd (تجويدis an Arabic word meaning proper pronunciation during recitation (literally meaning to make better). The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) has said, ‘Indeed Allah desires that the Qur’an be recited in the manner it was revealed.’ Please, come prepared with a Quran and a notebook.

COMMUNITY EVENTS & ACTIVITIES 

  

1. Seminar: The Steps of the Travelers (Madarij al-Salikeen).

How to be closer to Allah by Ibn al Qayyim (Saturdays) 

You are all invited and encouraged to attend the weekly seminar on how to improve your soul and be closer to Allah. Tell your family and friends.

2. NEW! City Year Volunteer Opportunity (April 5-9)

The Columbus’ chapter of City Year presents a few volunteer opportunities available for active Muslims to help the local youth and school systems. City Year will be hosting “Camp City Year” from April 5 to April 9. Volunteer help will be needed with registration, co-teaching, activities… etc. It’s a day camp (8 AM to 3:30 PM) but you may only commit to a few hours in the morning or afternoon. You may commit for the whole week, a day or just a few hours – help is appreciated.

3. CAIR 13th Annual Banquet (Saturday, March 20) 

Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) invites you to attend the CAIR-Ohio’s 13th Annual Banquet. The evening will revolve around A NEW ERA OF HOPE. OUR ROLE, OUR FUTURE. Seating is limited, so RSVP early by callin614-451-3232

4. Youth For Haiti: Spend your spring break helping Haiti (Spring Break)
We would like to invite college students, 18 years of age and older, to sign up for this program. Youth will volunteer to build shelters during their spring break or help with the ongoing Medical clinics alongside supervised professionals.

·         $500 will cover the cost of airfare, food, lodging and transportation in Haiti.

·         Students will be supervised by mentors.

·         Youth for Haiti will be for one week for each participant

·         There will be 3 rotations: Weeks of 3/8, 3/15 and 3/22 of 2010
