MSA EVENTS & ACTIVITIES 

1. MSA General Body Meeting: Campaign Ethics (Friday, April 9) 

Please note the new location. You are all invited to our weekly General Body Meeting (GBM) this coming FRI @ 6:00 PM. Come out to meet new people, see old friends!

Elections Nomination Period: April 9th (by 11:59 PM) is the last day to nominate SOMEONE ELSE for president and vice president. The week after is the last day to nominate yourselves for president or VP. For more information please visit http://msa-ohiostate.com/elections-guide-2010

2. Sisters Circle / Da’wa Workshop (Monday, April 12)

This Week sisters’ circle will be collaborating with the outreach in hosting a Dawa workshop.This week’s Dawa workshop will be in the same room as regular sisters circle meetings.

THIS EVENT IS FOR OPEN TO BROTHERS & SISTERS ALIKE, it is not a Sisters’ Circle Halaqa.

4. Tutoring Services (Tues/Thurs) MSA tutoring services is FREE for registered MSA members. Everybody is welcomed to register with MSA. First session is FREE for everyone.

5. MSA Tajwid Class (Wednesdays) Tajwīd (تجويد) is an Arabic word meaning proper pronunciation during recitation (literally meaning to make better). The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) has said, ‘Indeed Allah desires that the Qur’an be recited in the manner it was revealed.’ Please, come prepared with a Quran and a notebook!

  • Student Union. 3rd Floor. The Prayer Room.
  • There is also a Wodou room available on the 3rd floor.

7. MSA Elections 2010 (Click HERE)

Tomorrow (April 9th) is the deadline for you to nominate SOMEONE ELSE for president or VP until 11:59 PM. April 16 is final day people can nominate themselves for President or VP. That day the President/VP debate, nomination forms and a total of 50 signatures for the two candidates running together are due.  The 23rd is the last day you can nominate SOMEONE ELSE for a position.  On the 28th is the last day you can nominate yourself for a position.  On that day is meet the candidates night and the ten signatures are due.

P.S.  You cannot vote unless you are registered.  Registration is $5 and $15 for people running for a position.  You absolutely must be registered by 4/16 with your name and email.

8. Hijabi Monologues (April 30 & May 1)

MSA, the OSU’s Women Studies department, Students for Dialogues and Avery Production is bringing the Hijabi Monologues (HM) to Ohio State University. The HM is a performance that retells the experiences that real American-Muslim women have shared. The stories are sure to stir a range of emotions, from laughter to tears.

1. Seminar: The Steps of the Travelers (Madarij al-Salikeen).  

How to be closer to Allah by Ibn al Qayyim (Saturdays) 

You are all invited and encouraged to attend the weekly seminar on how to improve your soul and be closer to Allah.  Tell your family and friends.

2. NEW! City Year Volunteer Opportunity (April 5-9)

The Columbus’ chapter of City Year presents a few volunteer opportunities available for active Muslims to help the local youth and school systems. City Year will be hosting “Camp City Year” from April 5th to 9th. Volunteer help will be needed with registration, co-teaching, activities… etc. It’s a day camp (8 AM to 3:30 PM) but you may only commit to a few hours in the morning or afternoon. You may commit for the whole week, a day or just a few hours – help is appreciated.

3. Sisters’ Self-Defense Class (Thursdays)
